Crabs (Prekindergarten-Kindergarten)

This co-ed non-contact introduction to the game of lacrosse is intended for Prekindergarten - Kindergarten players who want a fun and games only experience with minimal commitment. The emphasis at this level is to introduce basic lacrosse skills through simple games.

All teams practice one night a week beginning in early March (weather permitting).  All practices are on weeknights.

Equipment requirements:  Lacrosse stick (recommended length 36 inches from top of head to bottom of shaft)

Practice Schedule: Practice will be 1 evening a week. There will be NO weekend practices.

Start date:  Mid to Late March

End Date:  Play will wrap up just before Memorial Day.

Boys Scoopers (K - 1st Grade)

The Boys Scoopers program provides an introduction to the game of lacrosse. This program is intended for Pre-K - 1st grade players. The emphasis at this level is to introduce basic lacrosse skills (scooping, catching, throwing, cradling and shooting) while having lots of FUN! (NOTE: 1st graders may play in Scoopers or at the Clinic level; Scoopers may be more appropriate for first year players or parents not wishing to travel for lacrosse games).

All teams practice two nights a week beginning in early March (weather permitting).  Games will begin in April, with practice continuing one night a week.  All practices and games are on weeknights. Coaches will introduce all of the lacrosse positions to each child, except for goalie (no goalies at this level). Games at this level are 6 vs 6 on a short field.

Equipment requirements:  Lacrosse stick (recommended length 36 inches from top of head to bottom of shaft),  regulation lacrosse helmet, lacrosse gloves, sports shoes (cleats preferred), elbow/arm pads, shoulder pads, cup.  There is only minor contact at this level.

Games:  One night a week beginning in April.  All games are played in Queen Anne's County

We strive to have a minimum of 2 coaches per team at this level.

Clinic (1st and 2nd Grade)

This program is designed for 1st and 2nd graders.  This program is still considered an instructional league catered to both newer and experienced players.  This program will play 1 to 2 games per week in the Anne Arundel County League.  Games will begin in mid-April. Coaches at this level will focus on scooping, catching, throwing, cradling and shooting.  We strive to have a minimum of 2 coaches per team at this level.(NOTE: 1st graders may play in Scoopers or at the Clinic level; Clinic may be more appropriate for 2nd year players or parents wishing to travel for lacrosse games).

Equipment requirements:  Lacrosse stick, regulation lacrosse helmet, lacrosse gloves, cleats, elbow/arm pads, shoulder pads and a cup. There is contact at this level with adjusted rules for player safety.

Practice Schedule: Typically 2 nights a week. Practices are held at Batts Neck Park.

Start date:  Early March, coaches' decision and dependent on field conditions.

End Date:  League play will wrap up just before Memorial Day.

Games:  1 to 2 games per week on Saturdays, beginning just before or just after the Easter holiday in the Anne Arundel County League.  Expect 8 to 10 league games.

Pee Wee (3rd and 4th Grade)

Coaches will start to introduce team offense and defensive concepts. Players will see long poles for the first time.  All sticks should be regulation length and with no stick shorter than 40 inches. Professional referees will handle all games. Depending on the competitive level entered, seasonal playoffs may be scheduled. We strive to have a minimum of 2 coaches per team at this level.

Equipment requirements:  Lacrosse stick, regulation lacrosse helmet, lacrosse gloves, cleats, elbow/arm pads, shoulder pads and a cup. There is contact at this level with adjusted rules for player safety.
