Sticklettes (Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade) - No travel
The Sticklettes program was developed in 2009 at the request of our parents of the younger players. The program is an introductory program for Kindergartners, 1st Graders, and 2nd Graders regardless of experience. This is a low key program where the focus is on learning the fundamentals of lacrosse and having fun!
Practices will begin the middle of March, weather and field conditions permitting. In April, this group will practice once per week and play a game against another Sticklettes team once per week (usually Saturday mornings). There may be opportunities for teams to participate in play-days against other youth organizations.
The emphasis is basic skills: scooping, catching, throwing, and cradling & lots of fun! Coaches start to teach positions at this level as the kids play 7v7 on a short field with shot blockers in the goal (teams may have goalies in front of the shot blocker, dependent on interest – goalie equipment is available). Every player will receive a practice/game t-shirt.
Equipment Requirements: Lacrosse stick (can be less than 40 inches), regulation lacrosse eyewear, and a mouthguard.
Practice Schedule: 2 days/week. One week night and Saturday.
